Kitsap Emergency Management is sponsoring an ACES Basic certification course. The course fee is $25 per student at the door and includes the student workbook. The IS-100, IS-200 and IS-700 courses are available online and required prior to certification. You may still take the class if you haven't completed the FEMA courses, and you will receive your certificate when you complete the FEMA courses. Students are required to bring a radio and manual for programming practice and passing traffic. Pre-registration is required. Lincoln County Auxiliary Communications is sponsoring an ACES Basic certification course.  The course fee is $25 per student and includes the student workbook and certificate.  The typical FEMA courses are required for certification, you may take the class without them, but they are required for a certificate (ICS 100, ICS 200, IS 700).  Students are required to bring a handheld amateur radio, the instruction manual for the radio, and an earphone or headset is encouraged.  You will be using your radio, an extra battery or charger is also encouraged.  We will be discussing radio 'go kits' and 72 hour packs, feel free to bring yours to class.  This class focuses on your performance and mastry of skills required for auxiliary communicatons support, you will be operating and checking into a net, sending and receiving formal traffic in multiple formats, and programming your radio to new frequencies.  To complete the course there is a multiple choice exam and a practical demonstration of learned skills.  Contact Daron at n7hqr@oregonaces.org with questions or for more information.

Lincoln County Auxiliary Communications Service is sponsoring a Basic class in Lincoln County.  The course is open to any interested ham radio operator.  This course will be at the Gleneden Beach Fire Station, 6445 Gleneden Beach Loop, Gleneden Beach Oregon in the Training room at the back of the building.  This course is ideal for new licensees who are interested in emergency communications.  The course is a mixture of classroom delivery and hands on practice with radio programming, message handling, and required ICS forms.  Students must bring a handheld VHF radio, manual for the radio, and charger.  A headset or earphone is encouraged for ease of message passing.  Successful completion of a multiple choice test as well as demonstration of the learned skills is required to pass the class.  ICS-100, ICS-200 and ICS-700 are required prior to receiving a certificate, though you may take the course without completing the ICS courses.  Pre-registration is required.  The cost for the course is $25 and includes the student workbook and all needed materials.  The course will run from 0800 to 1800 both Saturday and Sunday with a small homework assignment on Saturday night.  Drinks and Snacks will be provided.  If you have any questions or special needs, please contact Daron N7HQR n7hqr@oregonaces.org 

American Red Cross of King County is sponsoring an ACES Basic class on the weekend of April 23-24, 2016, 8am-6pm both days.  It will be held at the chapter house at 1900 25th Avenue South, Seattle.   The course fee is $25 per student at the door and includes the student workbook.  ICS 100, 200 and 700 are required prior to certification. You may still take the class if you haven't completed the FEMA courses, and you will receive your certificate when you complete the FEMA courses.
