ACES Basic (Bremerton, WA)

Kitsap ARES is sponsoring an ACES Basic certification course in Bremerton, WA.  The course fee is $25 per student at the door and includes the student workbook, handouts and certificate.  The FEMA IS-100, IS-200 and IS-700 courses are required prior to certification and available online at http://training.fema.gov/is.  You may attend the course before completing the courses and you will receive your ACES completion certificate after you complete the FEMA courses.  Students are required to bring a radio and manual for programming practice.  The class focuses on performance and mastery of skills required for auxiliary communications support.  You will be operating and checking into a net, sending and receiving formal message traffic in multiple formats and programming your radio to new frequencies.  To complete the course, there is a multiple choise exam and a practical demonstration of learned skills.  Contact Chris at cq.kg6o@gmail.com with questions or for more information.

ACES Basic (Gleneden Beach, Oregon)

Lincoln County Auxiliary Communications is sponsoring an ACES Basic certification course.  The course fee is $25 per student and includes the student workbook and certificate.  The typical FEMA courses are required for certification, you may take the class without them, but they are required for a certificate (ICS 100, ICS 200, IS 700).  Students are required to bring a handheld amateur radio, the instruction manual for the radio, and an earphone or headset is encouraged.  You will be using your radio, an extra battery or charger is also encouraged.  We will be discussing radio 'go kits' and 72 hour packs, feel free to bring yours to class.  This class focuses on your performance and mastry of skills required for auxiliary communicatons support, you will be operating and checking into a net, sending and receiving formal traffic in multiple formats, and programming your radio to new frequencies.  To complete the course there is a multiple choice exam and a practical demonstration of learned skills.  Contact Daron at n7hqr@oregonaces.org with questions or for more information.
