ACES Basic (Virtual)

Snohomish County ACS is sponsoring an ACES Basic certification course.  This course will be held online with new, updated content and will require a device that can provide video and audio with Zoom.  The course fee is $15 per student and includes an electronic version of the draft student workbook.  ICS 100, 200 and 700 are required prior to certification.  You may still take the class if you haven't completed the FEMA courses and you will receive your certificate when you complete the FEMA courses.  Students are required to bring a radio and manual for programming practice and passing traffic.  Pre-registration is required.  Contact Scott N7SS at n7ss@arrl.net with questions or more information.
 
It will be held over two weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.  Participants will need to attend all six sessions to receive a certificate.

Courses cancelled in response to pandemic

The ACES Basic course in Renton May 2-3 and Bellingham May 30-31 have been cancelled due to the risk of COVID-19 spread.  We will be watching trends and guidance from government partners to determine when it's safe to start again.  We generally don't hold classes during the summer so any new classes won't be until fall of 2020.

ACES Basic accepted as EC-001 alternative in Western Washington

The ARES task book was released during the summer of 2019 and listed the EC-001 course (or local equivalent) as a requirement for Level 2 and 3.  Monte Simpson, the ARRL Western Washington Section Manager, has accepted the ACES Basic course as a local alternative for the ARRL EC-001 course.  Monte is a graduate with his ACES certificate and has taught the ACES material in Kitsap and Jefferson Counties.  The ACES team is excited to be able to provide this value to ARES members wishing to upgrade their skills and complete their task books.

ACES Basic (Seattle, WA)

Seattle Auxiliary Communications (ACS) is hosting an ACES Basic course.  The course fee is $25 per student at the door and includes the student workbook and certificate.  The FEMA IS-100, IS-200 and IS-700 courses are available online and are required prior to certification. You may take the class before completing the FEMA courses and will receive your ACES certificate when you complete the FEMA courses. Students are required to bring a radio and manual for programming practice and a headset is recommended. The class focuses on your performance and mastry of the skills required for auxiliary communications support. You will be operating and checking into a net, sending and receiving formal message traffic in multiple formats and programming your radio to new frequencies.
